Safety is at the heart of our mission. Traditional methods of moving down cows can pose significant risks, often resulting in injury to both cattle and farm staff. The purpose-built CowRecovery system has been designed to dramatically reduce these hazards, helping to create a safer working environment on farm.
James Yeatman, who runs a 400-cow dairy herd producing 11,000 litres of milk in North Dorset, experienced the challenges of managing down cows firsthand. Working in collaboration with Synergy Farm Health, he developed the CowRecovery system to provide a safer, more practical solution.
At the centre of the design is an innovative bladeless bucket adapted to act as a cow ambulance. Its simple, cow-friendly appearance helps create a positive first impression while allowing cows to be moved efficiently and with minimal stress. CowRecovery is designed to become a well-rehearsed procedure that all farm staff understand and can implement confidently, helping to achieve the best possible outcomes for down cows while improving safety for everyone involved.
