HORSCH achieves record growth in 2017
HORSCH has again recorded record growth figures as the business continues to increase sales in all sectors. A 19% growth over 2016 sees revenue grow to 356 million Euros for 2017. Stephen Burcham, general manager for HORSCH UK, highlights the company’s extensive product development. “As shown at the recent Agritechnica show, we continue to expand our products ranges with innovative new technology and machines. We always focus on the needs of the customers and build products that help them farm more productively.”
HORSCH is among the fastest growing brands in the agricultural engineering sector with both exports and market share in Germany (10% share) rising. Eastern European contributes 53% to the turnover with outstanding sales success in the Ukraine. Western European accounts for 20% while the remaining worldwide activities are 7%. The latter is also increasing considerably due to rising demand in China and the development of production and sales facilities in Brazil and North America.
Increasing production capacity
To meet the rising demands in all product sectors, HORSCH is investing in all German production sites. Employee numbers have risen to 1,600 worldwide and with incoming orders for 2018 at a high and consistent level, the business will continue to increase turnover. A completely new hall will be finished soon at the Ronneburg production site and the plant protection site in Landau will almost double production until autumn. In Russia, the new production hall of HORSCH Rus has just been inaugurated and in 2018 the Ukrainian site will be expanded. In Brazil, too, further production capacities will be established.
New US demonstration farm
HORSCH has invested in a demonstration farm in Downs, Illinois, in the middle of the corn belt to present state-of-the-art farming concepts to US farmers. The farm will provide Practical Field Days, training and agronomy studies.
The popular international Practical Field Days at HORSCH’s site in Schwandorf, Germany will again play host to several thousand farmers between mid-May and the beginning of July. “These events allow customers and their dealers to meet with HORSCH engineers to discuss product development and farming practices. The Horsch family are successful farmers themselves and it’s a great opportunity to share knowledge,” says Stephen.
HORSCH is a solutions provider
Due to its innovative technology and practical farming experience, for many customers HORSCH has become much more than a supplier of agricultural machinery. Solutions like apps, tracking or the crop singulation SingularSystem (awarded with the Golden DLG Test Seal for working quality) have seen HORSCH become a supplier of solutions for the modern and sustainable production of healthy food.
